Who is she?

So who am I to be giving out advice you may ask?

Well let me tell you a bit about me...

By profession I am an interior designer with architectural training but I am interested in all areas of design and like to try my hand at everything available.

I absolutely love homemaking and event planning for my friends and family and I always involved in helping with interior scheme or planning an event.

I adore anything old or broken and relish a chance to breath new life into something discarded.
Particular favorites are old desk lamps, clocks, pipes, pocket watches, bow ties and braces, lighters and arm chairs.... basically anyones grandad would have owned.
I have been in practice for 7 years and have gained a range of experience in both commercial and domestic design. Most of what I do in the work place is commercial. However most of what I write here will be advice for the home and influenced by both my dealings at work on a professional level and private work both in my own home and for others.

The Portfolio Page will contain examples of both my professional and private work (when I have finished it) which should allow you to assess, fairly quickly, if you think my advice is worth listening to or not.

I live, breath and sleep interiors, design and home making which, apart from making me quite dull, also means I am constantly coming up with new ideas, ‘product finds’ and [the thing I pride myself most on] bargains.
I know all about interior design and home making within a tight budget. The interior in our house was done when we first moved when money was scarce. However it also meant I had to get creative and with hand-me-down furniture, sale furniture, fabric remnants and even home made Christmas gifts.

I am a big fan of reusing and upcycling and love scoping out charity shops, boot sales and vintage markets for unique finds to rescue and refurbish or modernise. It means you get something unique, low cost and its environmentally friendly. Thats a win, win, win!

I am utterly convinced that no matter what your budget and your space constraints there will be a way to get what you need from your home and make it look good… and I look forward to the challenge.

I have been trying to write a blog for ages now, and have started many, but have been hesitating and procrastinating about what to blog about first and how career focused to make it... but I shall hesitate no more!

This blog is going to have no more structure than to document my creative musings and impulses and my personal projects. Starting from now...
